Echo Entertainment aims to deliver compelling customer experiences for our customers. In doing so, we want to be recognised as a responsible corporate citizen and effective community leader in all areas in which we operate.
Each year, Echo Entertainment Group Limited makes significant contributions to the NSW and Queensland economies through tax payments and investments in jobs. In the 2012 financial year, The Star paid over $147 million in taxes to the NSW Government, including more than $13.7 million to the Casino Community Benefit Levy. In Queensland, more than $80 million was contributed by Echo’s Queensland properties to the Queensland Government and local economy.
Each casino property in Sydney, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Townsville operates community programs driven by the commitment to growing and developing the communities in which our businesses operate and our employees live and work.
More than 110 local charities and community organisations received support valued at $90,000 through the award-winning Open Your Hearts program which operates in South East Queensland. This program, which sees team members nominate the charities or community organisations they themselves are involved in, has enabled Echo Entertainment to reach a vast range of groups in need of assistance.
Echo Entertainment’s properties have also provided significant support to sporting teams and not for profit organisations in their local regions over the past 12 months, including the Townsville Crocodiles and Townsville 400.
Treasury Brisbane is currently completing an extensive stone-work preservation program and supports the National Trust of Queensland’s Brisbane Open House event which opens heritage buildings to the public for guided tours.
